third time's a charm

1. had a pregnant lady come into the clinic yesterday reading harry potter. i hope she thinks the baby is absorbing it as she reads, coming into the world equipped with the idea it's awesome to create imaginary worlds.
2. heard a rumor that harry potter lego is coming out on wii in 2010. awesome!
3. currently listening to harry potter on my ipod while i clean my room.

alone in the house tonight - last time this happened was easily six months ago. rocking out to MGMT. at full volume! i also happen to be making stamp cards for people i love.

placement, numero dos

yesterday was a pleasant surprise, seeing as it was my first day with my NEW PRECEPTOR. usually day one is just terrible since you don't know where anything is or really what to do. however, when i learned the office opened at 9 i had high hopes. i arrived at 8:45 and went back to sit with my preceptor's nurse as she prepped for the day. she was the cutest/sweetest/nicest. then, i had nothing to do while she did other things so i checked out the office.
1. Jesus paintings, plaques, and quotes everywhere.
2. all paintings only had african americans.
3. 90% baby pictures were african americans.
4. my preceptor, who is the boss, likes his coffee from starbucks, whole bean. his nurse then grinds it up freshly and makes coffee every morning for the whole office. amazing.

at 10:15 my preceptor calls the office to say he went to help his buddy with surgery and is on his way in now. the rest of the day went off without a hitch.

internet has been out plus my stories haven't been that interesting. now i'm back in business and currently watching planet earth, seasonal forests. i called my brother a few days ago and was stressing out and he was like go watch planet earth. duh.

punishment

last night was my friend's 30th birthday party! naturally i chose chinese new year as his theme. to partake in the festivities i departed from my normal abstinence and drank two drinks. drink 1: mojito. drink 2: cider beer. however, i did also drink 23048203984 glasses of water as well. clearly, my body decided to react in a totally logical and appropriate manner when i woke up this morning. all day i have felt kangaroos jumping around in my brain. this hardly seems fair.

traffic altercations

yesterday i had a rough two hours. first i went to a meeting and got yelled at. then i was 3 minutes late to my car and found this travesty:

why the city of richmond insists on being so damn punctual is beyond me. i also don't have an extra $20 to spend on a parking ticket. grrrr. so i'm driving home, fuming about my rough 1.75 hours when the car in front of me stops moving at a stop sign and just sits there. a lady gets out and starts yelling at me. i crank my window down and politely say, "excuse me?" and she screams "GET OFF MY ASS BEFORE YOU HIT MY CAR" i just looked at her and said "ok."

turns out my new roommate's first name is also nancy (but she goes by her middle name) and we both really like pink. plus our beds share a wall. when will the similarities end?

death of the game room

my landlord called today to say, oh hey - a new girl roommate is moving in to the extra room sunday. i know you haven't met her but i really like her and think it will be totally cool! let's get excited!

trouble is, the extra room has been my sweet game room for the past few months (totally mom's idea - amazing). i moved in two lazyboys (not the roommates) and the wii and a dvd/vcr player and an exercise bike. it is incredibly spacious yet comfortable and unlike the previous room where the games were played, there is a lot of room to move around for the wii fit board. i am kind of a gaming dork. regardless, that is no longer. hello new roommate, goodbye sweet game room. in the words of my grandpa, "i'm not happy."

storms a coming

lots of thunderstorms and rain the past few days. so much lightening and thunder has been seen and heard on the back deck. the trouble is, i always forget - do you count the seconds between thunder then lightening or between lightening then thunder? a perk is that i finally used my super cute umbrella.

flowers for you

my mom is magical in so many ways. one of which is she always discovers new places in richmond that become my favorite. not only does she discover these places, she then procures memberships so we can visit them again and again at reduced rates. genius. yesterday i went on an adventure to the botanical gardens.
